Dr. James Katz is one of the board-certified ophthalmologists providing superior patient care at the Midwest Center for Sight. Dr. Katz is a cornea, cataract and laser eye surgery specialist who performs a range of refractive surgical procedures, including advanced LASIK, corneal transplants, DSEK, Intacs, and cataract surgery. In fact, he is a highly accomplished cataracts specialist who offers a full range of intraocular lens implants, including AcrySof ReSTOR, Toric, Visiogen Synchrony and Crystalens.
Dr. Katz is a graduate of the University of Illinois Chicago, College of Medicine. He completed his internship at Illinois Masonic Medical Center with his residency at the University of Illinois Eye & Ear Infirmary. He completed a prestigious fellowship at Casebeer International Eye Center and the University of Utah Moran Eye Center.
Dr. Katz is board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and the National Board of Medical Examiners. He is also a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology; the American Academy of Cataract and Refractive Surgery; the International Society of Refractive Surgery; the European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons; the Illinois Association of Ophthalmology and the Chicago Ophthalmologic Society.
Dr. Katz's medical expertise is well-known outside of the Chicago area. Throughout his medical career, he has been regularly published in national and international ophthalmologic journals and is invited to speak at medical conferences all over the United States and the world, including countries in Europe, Asia and South America. He helped build clinics and teach new procedures in Vietnam.
In addition to refractive surgical procedures, Dr. Katz also provides routine eye exams, preventive eye-care health, conducts studies and treats all medical eye conditions.
